Hi! My name is Faith Allen. I am so excited to be launching my own personal blog. I have been working as a professional blogger over at AdoptionBlogs.com since January, but this will be my first private blog. While I am passionate about many topics, the one most near and dear to my heart is recovering from childhood abuse. My childhood was filled with trauma and terror, but today I am living a life of freedom from my past. While I will always have residue from my history, I have learned that my past does not have to define who I am.
This blog is not about what broke me. Instead, I want to focus on what “fixed” me because that is what survivors of childhood abuse care about – How can I heal? Is healing even possible? I am living proof that you can heal from childhood abuse, no matter how bad the abuse was.
I am writing this blog for you – for those of you who are trying to heal from a history of trauma. So, please leave me comments and let me know what you would like to read about. Here are some ideas from the top of my head, but I am happy to talk about any area of healing from childhood abuse, including –
For years, I have been active on a message board for adult survivors of childhood abuse. I have offered (and received!!) lots of support from others who are working through their own healing journeys. I also provide support for adoptive parents who are parenting children who have been traumatized.
I am a professional writer by trade, but this blog is a labor of love. I just want to offer others hope that they, too, can heal from their pasts. Our abusers took our past, but only we can give them our present and future. The choice is yours, and you do not have to walk this journey alone. I am here if you need a friend.
